Despite popular belief, ancient vikings did not wear horned adornments on their helmets. Their helmets were traditional cone shape, open faced and often with a nose and cheek guards. In 19th century, vikings became popular among German artists and they re-imagined viking helmets in their own vision - with two great horns attached to the helmet's sides, which would be surely uncomfortable or even hazardous given the viking lifestyle.
